July 7-8, 2015 - Oswego

The locks opened at 8:00 am and we were the first four boats in line.  We were excited, but a little sad, to leave Phoenix.   We had a great time there.  We went through 7 locks during the day which was pretty exhausting and arrived at Oswego at 12:20.  It was pretty warm during our trip and we were all hot and tired when we got in.  After a few hours of recuperation, we walked to a Mexican food place in town which turned out to be pretty good (not Houston, of course).  On Wednesday, Lake Ontario was a little too windy, so we spent another day in Oswego.  So, when you can’t boat, you clean.  Jack had the girls on their hands and knees cleaning the outside of the boat and the fenders (the boat was pretty dirty after going through the locks).  Then we loaned the girls out to clean the fenders on Spirit.  We played some ball with the girls in the afternoon, then had an impromptu happy hour with Always Home, Next Chapter, Ivory Lady and Spirit, and finished the day with a yummy chili dinner on the back deck with Spirit (no more nice picnic tables).  We watched our last U.S. sunset for a while.  Tomorrow we head into Canada.
