January 4, 2017 - Appalachicola, the Crossing, Dunedin

We left Manatee early Wednesday morning and had a nice ride to Apalachicola where we spent the  night. The next morning, we met up with Ed and Ly (Miss Ly), our buddy boat for the crossing.  We had lunch together and then headed to Dog Island.  Around 5:00 we turned right at Dog Island and started our all night journey across the Gulf.  It was a great crossing (again).  We took two hour shifts for sleeping and arrived at Dunedin Municipal Marina at 11:30.  After a nap, we walked around the town (there was an art festival going on), and then met Curt and Julie (CJ) for a good Mexican dinner.  Some bad weather was headed our way so we tucked in for the night, only to get up a few times during the night to add and reposition lines. By Saturday, the weather was a little better, so we were able to get off the boat in the afternoon and walk around the town.  Sunday, we rode the Jolley Trolley to Clearwater and back and then spent more time walking around the town.  The Jolley Trolley is a free trolley that runs from Tarpon Springs through Dunedin and down to Clearwater.  Due to the weather, we spent an extra day in Dunedin instead of going to Caladesi State Park for a day.

Welcome to Dunedin

And more arts and crafts

It was a little chilly for our ride on the Jolley Trolley
