September 27-29, 2015 - Cruising the Tennessee River

We left Paris Landing around 8:30 Sunday morning and spent four days cruising and anchoring along the Tennessee River.  The scenery was absolutely beautiful.  We've noticed in our travels that the trees are starting to show a tiny bit of color change.  We anchored at Birdsong Creek at 12:30 Sunday, took the dinghys down, and went to Birdsong Marina to tour the cultured pearl museum.  This is the only place in the US where pearls are harvested.  We left the anchorage at 8:30 Monday for another great run.  We only met one cargo ship and a few fishermen along the way.  We stopped at an anchorage at Double Islands around 2:00, but Spirit went on so they could get to Aqua Marina to take care of prop issues.  We spent the afternoon relaxing and reading.  It was the first time we had been by ourselves since Buckhorn.  We woke up to some light showers Tuesday morning but decided they weren't going to get any heavier, so we pulled the anchor up and left around 7:30.  About two hours later, it looked like some heavier rains were headed toward us so we dropped the anchor at 9:30 at Swallow Bluff Island.  Jack took this time to make a batch of chili and I did a little cleaning.  We read for a while, ate lunch, and then pulled the anchor up at 12:30 and headed to Diamond Island.  We dropped the anchor at 3:30 and spent a nice relaxing afternoon enjoying the beautiful scenery.

The Tennessee River - it was a little cloudy that day

It's hard to see but there is a beautiful bald eagle sitting in that nest
watching us go by

The name of this boat is Valentine.  It was labeled by one
guy as "well lived in"

A calm morning

That's a car hauler

Back into rock cliffs again

Tuesday morning - calm with low hanging clouds

The clouds are looking a little more threatening

You can see a hint of color in the trees

We were watched by goats on the island while we anchored
