October 7-8, 2015 - Guntersville

Wednesday was a road trip to Huntsville to visit the NASA Museum. Jack and Jane have lived in the area for many years (Jack was stationed in the Army here) so they were very good tour guides of the area.  The Museum focused more on the beginnings of NASA and Wernher Von Braun who was credited with inventing the Saturn V and was the director of the new Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville.  After the Museum, we had a nice lunch at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens, then off to the Redstone military base.  The entire area is filled with research companies and is very impressive.  Later we had a nice dinner on our back deck.  Thursday was cleaning day, although we managed to visit our old friend, Publix, for some groceries and a flu shot (thanks to the use of Jack's van).  Thursday evening a group gathered for docktails on the boat and then on to dinner to celebrate Jane's 70th birthday.  Ray and Sherry Baker, friends from the 2013 Rendezvous, live close by and drove over to see us and joined our party.  Jack and Jane's neighbors Wayne and Arlene also joined the party.  It was a great evening with good friends (and the food was good too)!
Probably not the best picture - but we had been traveling all day
