June 9-10, 2015 - New York City

We (me, Jack, Jack and Jane (Spirit)) got up early Tuesday morning to head to New York City.  John, our gracious harbor host, took us to the train station so we could catch our train into Manhattan.  We took the train to the end of Staten Island, got on the Staten Island Ferry into Manhattan, and then took the subway to Times Square.  On Wednesday we repeated the travel, except when we reached Manhattan we walked down a few docks and got on a tour boat (as if we don't spend enough time on a tour boat!).  We bought tickets for a hop on/hop off bus tour and, between the two days, we saw uptown, downtown, and everything in between.  A few of the highlights were Times Square, Rockefeller Center, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, World Trade Center, Ground Zero Memorial Park, and an afternoon matinee of Jersey Boys.  Both nights we had good dinners, took an express bus back to Staten Island (napping along the way), and fell into bed.

Our first trip past the Statue of Liberty (on the Staten Island Ferry)

Beautiful sunset straight down the street

Got to a matinee - always fantastic (this was our third time to see them)

Times Square

Empire State Building

This was as close as I got!

One of the two pools (one for each building) - very beautiful and sobering

Another view of the pool - all the names are etched along the top railing
