May 2-8, 2017 - Myrtle Beach

We left our beautiful anchorage around 9:15 and were docked at Osprey Marina by 11:15.  We stayed a week to catch up on some things - like cleaning and some maintenance.  This is a very nice marina but not close to anything.  Our dock is far enough away from the office that they leave two golf carts for us to use to get back and forth (it's about 1/4 mile walk to the office).   We spent the first two days working around the boat.  Shell Belle came in on Wednesday so we all ate dinner at a close-by restaurant that sent a car to the marina for us.  On Thursday, Wally and Darcy (Summertime) surprised us with a visit on their way to visit family in Myrtle Beach.  It was really great to see them.  Two other Loopers also came in on Thursday - Let It Be (Jerry and Margot) and Neverland (Chuck and Cindy-we had passed them the day before on the ICW).  We all had docktails that night aboard Let It Be. We had some storms blow through during the night and the weather turned a little chilly in the mornings.  On Friday we picked up a rental car, which turned out to be quite an ordeal (probably the worst Enterprise we have encountered on our travels).  We celebrated Cinco de Mayo that night with Jim and Mandy at a local Mexican restaurant and then went back to their boat for a special drink of Tequila from a distillery owned, in part, by George Clooney.  Saturday we spent a pleasant day walking around the Boardwalk in Myrtle Beach -- a large grouping of restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops located on the beach.  We had docktails that evening with Jerry, Margo, Jim and Mandy.  Sunday we drove south to Murells Inlet and walked around Huntington Beach State Park.  We ended up at the Bass Pro in North Myrtle Beach and took in a (not very good) movie.  Monday we returned our rental car and spent the rest of the day doing chores around the boat. Tomorrow we head north again.
