We then fast forwarded to around 1775 to Colonial Williamsburg
where the ideals of liberty, independent and personal freedom were conceived. This was an interactive experience with everyone
dressed in period dress. We toured the
Capitol where the first Declaration of Rights was written. Our tour guide was very much in character and spoke as if the year was 1775. We then watched the Colonial Williamsburg Fifes
and Drums march down main street and end up at a park where we watched a reenactment
of local militia being addressed regarding the impending battle in Yorktown. We visited the jail and learned the jail keeper was one of the higher paid people in that era. One of the original jail cells still stands.
