Dec. 8-12, 2017 - Vero Beach, Stuart

We said goodbye to Linda Jean (for just a few days) and headed south about 3 hours to Vero Beach to visit Mark and Susan.  While Susan worked Friday and Saturday, Mark took us to run our errands (Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Publix (2 carts of food, $350.00!)).  We spent Friday evening aboard Squivot having docktails with a few of their neighbors and some home made soup. Saturday we woke to some rain and cooler temperatures (we knew the warm weather wasn't going to last).  We found time to do a little work in the engine room (always fun).  Saturday night dinner was chili on our back deck.  Sunday we all went to a movie (Just Getting Started) and then, of course, a WalMart run.  Sunday night we had a great prime rib dinner at Bobby's.  We manage to eat there each time we are in town.  We were lucky to see Mark and Susan twice this year and, as always, had a great time with them.

After fueling up and pumping out on Monday, we said goodbye to Mark and Susan and headed to Stuart (about 5-1/2 hours). As we turned toward Stuart, we officially left the Atlantic ICW and began heading west.  We spent all summer on the east coast and now we are heading back to the west coast of Florida.  There were no mooring balls available at the marina, so we anchored across the channel at Pendarvis Cove (we had anchored there on our way north earlier).  We had docktails that night on our back deck with Tricia, Rob, Sue (Rob's cousin) and her husband, Paul.  Dinner was a dinghy ride away on Linda Jean.  Tuesday I headed back to the doctor (got another round of antibiotics) while Jack ran some errands.  We then met Tricia, Sue and Rob for a nice lunch and a walk around the town (it was our first time to visit Stuart).  That was followed by another nice evening on our back deck with Rob, Tricia, Sue and Paul.
