Sept. 30-Oct 2, 2017 - South to Elizabeth City

We said goodbye to David and Linda and left the dock around 8:30 for a nice, sunny day on the water.  Our trip south will be to revisit friends (starting with David and Linda) and visit a few new places.  We passed through Portsmouth/Norfolk and were reminded of our fun stay there with George and Mary Jane.  At Norfolk we entered the Atlantic ICW and had a nice ride to Centerville, where we stopped for the night.  Sunday we left the marina around 7:30 and enjoyed the nice, peaceful ICW.  Unfortunately, we hit a larger body of water and winds picked up, so it was a choppy ride to our anchorage for the night at Broad Creek. We left Virginia and entered North Carolina during the day. We stopped around 12:30 and enjoyed a quiet afternoon, although it was a little lonely since we were used to a lot of people being around.  We left our anchorage at around 8:30 Monday morning and had a nice, calm ride to Elizabeth City.  Danny and Buddy met us at the dock and helped with our lines.  We then met June and Jan for lunch, followed by dinner at the Sawyers that night.  A good start to what will be a fun week.
