Oct. 3-5, 2017 - Elizabeth City

The theme of our stay in Elizabeth City is golfing, eating, and just having a really good time.  The boys have played the local nine-hole, par 3 course every day since we got here.  We have then mixed that in with lunches and dinners.  We ate dinner Tuesday night at Hoppin' Johnz in downtown Elizabeth City.  We had eaten there on our previous trip this year, but none of the locals had ever eaten there.  The food was very good, so I'm sure they'll be back. On Wednesday (after golf), we took a road trip to the Outer Banks, Kitty Hawk, Manteo, Columbia (June's home), and Gum Neck (Danny's home).  June was the tour guide through Columbia pointing out her old family farm, their house, and many other homes along the way.  Danny then took over for the trip through Gum Neck where we stopped to check on his grandmother's house.  It was dusk and a time when a lot of bear and deer are seen.  We saw a little bear but he took off as we drove down the street.  A little later we saw a deer.  After a good down-home dinner in Columbia, it was back to Elizabeth City.  Thursday was golf, lunch at Wendy's, and a hot dog dinner on the boat.  Before dinner, we played a fun game of bocce ball on the lawn in front of the boat.

It's hard work keeping up with the boys

Looks like another hit and hunt

We didn't get a picture of the bear, but if you closely you
can see the eyes of the deer we saw (in the middle of the picture)

There he goes
